Bono is playing a DY56 in the photo. It has a solid spruce top with laminate mahogany back & sides. The list price was around $725 when new. It was one of our early acoustic/electric Alvarez Yairi models.

I've not seen him use this guitar other than in this one picture. It appears that Bono, like The Edge, was experimenting with a variety of guitars (makes and models) during the 1987 The Joshua Tree tour
